Hi everyone. I'm going to tell my story for those who don't remember me from the old forums.
I was an AM somewhere in the Midwest. I was also a top writer in the country. I actually made money at GC, and I never snaked or d-bagged anyone during my tenure. I still work in the industry, so I can't be too open.

Guess that was what led to my termination.

Essentially I was fired for a lack of "integrity."

What really happened? A ton of **** and 200 dollars came up missing at my store. After genius loss prevention manager Bruce Mcneal visited, it came down to me or a drum guy as the thief. The register only had me and him in it.... After 1 interview, I was set on leave while they "completed the investigation." This threw my whole store upside down, as everyone was under the microscope. 1 night at the bar I told a fellow AM, " I'll give them 200 if they just let us go back to work."

3 days later I get called in. Was told to write down my side of the story on a piece of paper. Bruce and Rick walk out. Come back in with my termination papers. I'm not a thief, just no integrity. Reason? If i was going to offer to pay the money I should have went to them. The other AM (who was bucking for a store) ratted me out and changed what I said. The point of writing my story? No clue. The docs said i was terminated the night after the bar. They said I had to be the thief because the other guy was too dumb to steal.

2 months later I hear a story. A customer comes in with a non-working M-box. They run the serial number, and it was the stolen one. They ask where it was gotten. Customer says they bought it from the "other" sales guy out of the parking lot. The guy who was too dumb to steal was the thief. He was arrested in the store, and apparently peed himself.

That's my solace in the matter. I have never received an apology from Bruce (loss prevention,) Rick (District Ops manager) or Jason Crane.

Ironically if I was fired a few days later. Or stayed. I would have never had the opportunity I received the day I was terminated. Someone left at a major manufacturer. A rep called the store looking for me for some gear to rent. Heard i was fire for stealing. (Yah someone said that on the phone to him, a customer.) He called me to get the story. And told me his company was looking for someone. I was hired the next day.

And I never touched Ramen again =)

But **** off above mentioned middle-management pricks.

GC Loss Prevention has to be about the most clueless LP department in retail.  If the GC LP dept was to work for any major retailer, they would get eaten alive by the HR dept for their inconsistency, favortism, and overall lack of procedure and respecting employee rights, especially during what a real company would consider an "investigation".  They are bias, and in most cases unfamiliar and/or uneducated, and honestly boderline ignorant in their conclusions.  We've all dealt with them as GM's and you just sit there and scratch your head at their conclusions, and then try to get them to understand what's really happening and then battle their ignorance, so innocent people don't get fired.  I can honestly say that with my time with GC, that as a GM i was far more in the know on most LP situations that the LP person ever was, and that their conclusions were 90% wrong most of the time.  Let's face it, they arn't the brightest LP guys out there, but that's not what GC is looking for unlike other retailers, they are content with someone that amuses them, that they can tell dumb stories about, and the LP person is content being the butt of dist mgrs, corporate and GM jokes and dumb stories.  And if theres an HR person on this forum, or an OPs mgr, or dist ops manager or even GM for that sake that doesn't have their fair share of dumb LP stories, I would love to hear them, because you all know you do, and that folks is your LP dept that you let decide the fate of alot of good, innocent employees that don't find bad LP or HR stories amusing.  When your LP and HR dept are the butt of the companies jokes, then you truly understand what GC culture is.  GC - Truth

I had loss prevention fire me over 15$ of damaged merch...  the next month my "replacement"  caused them to come up 6000$ short at inventory.  OOPS.   This was not a music retailer,  but they were morons also.
