Just got fired from GC today. I somehow feel empty as a result... but at the same time... quite invigorated.

It happened for a reason though. I hate GC and GC hates me. It's a win-win situation.

Enjoy the freedom that lack of proximity to douches gives you.
You will find something better and more fulfilling.
Believe that.
If for no other reason than anything is better than corporate retail, and GC is the worst there is in retail for employee treatment and compensation.
Do yourself a favor and look for something DIFFERENT.
Even if it's waiting tables, just stay away from big box retail, and don't make the mistake of going to Ash (though, they do treat their people better).

Rumor has it that GC is gonna can half their district managers, too, so theres that to look forward to.
Maybe your manager will get pushed out of his spot when his district guy gets the can.
Wouldn't that be nice?

Oh believe me, I'm going to stay as far away from the GC machine and any other corporate retailer that I can. Employees are treated like property, just as I was. They even had the ****ing balls to wait until the week after our Trade Expo happened so that I could make them money before they fired me. 8000 in GP for them just last month and I was the best seller in drums. So they repay me by telling me I'm going to be replaced by some 18 year old fartknocker who doesn't know the difference between a maple or a birch shell.

**** GC!!!

And yes. That would indeed be very nice. Haha that store manager is in for such a rude awakening. I'm gonna love it when I run into him somewhere.

"Oh hey, how's Guitar Center treatin' ya?"

Anyway, need to get some venting out, and thanks for the support and advice. I appreciate it.

Hey man... I know the feeling.    I got fired from retail electronics some years ago.   It sucked more dick than Michael Jackson.

Anyway,  Most everyone in BigBox retail only hangs in there for a year or so...  there's that much BS.    But it did work out well for my music biz...   I wrote a whole EP of music about how that Retail Chain sucked,  and published it...   Under the band name  Dead Koby and the Light Up Hippos.

The name has stuck..  but  Koby and Light-Up Hippo were just two lousy products that we had to sell there.   Uh huh... it was awful.   They had me working so many hours,  I never got to play any music... with the exception of this EP...    A few days after getting the Axe, I went off and played a club...   Finally.

Well good for you. It sounds like you're better of without them. I think we're all better off without corporate retailers.

I know I'll never shop at a retail store again. Only indie mom & pop stores that will actually appreciate my business.

Hope everything works out for you with your band Koby. Best of luck to you!

You're being replaced by someone who will do the same job you did and be less of a headache. Guitar Center doesn't care about having employees that know what they're talking about. They need grunts who will follow orders and boot lick for minimum wage.

Chances are you suck as an employee and so they're bringing in a replacement. They will survive, you can wash dishes at Taco Town or work at Best Buy. Bottom line - GC wins, you lose.

Had you been a professional you would have a severance package, profit sharing, 401k match, healthcare, etc... instead because you're lower then whale dooty you work for a company that doesn't treat you well.

Go back to school and get a degree.
