I would guess it's likely a torqued off employee.   I know another store I once worked for had 6K of stuff go missing.   I know it wasn't me... it all happened after I was out of there.  I think I know who it was...  the dude was a problem,  and I told the higher-ups,  but because he had "Good Numbers"  they wouldn't send him away.   

I don't condone any of this,  but from my experience,  if someone feels like a company is "Shafting" them.. they are more likely to steal to make up the difference.

Totally.  There's no way that kind of cash in merch doesn't get out of the store without keys, inside help, ...or complete and utter laziness by the crew.  All of which is a possibility.

I know a guy who stole a Martin (not an imported one I think it was a D-41) out of GC.

He went in and put it in a starter pack box, checked out then had the balls to go back and say there was stuff missing out of the box and they supposedly gave him another starter pack.

I actually called Loss Prevention (took me about 45 mins to get their number as I don't work at GC) and gave them the name of the two people who did this - both are non-GC scumbags. I don't know if there was any follow up.

If any GC people are working here feel free to contact me and I'll pass on the info. The two guys who did that belong in prison and both have stolen from many other people.

GC has stolen far more from people than any two meth heads you know.
